The wedding that went viral
When you get the opportunity to style & flower up a very special person’s wedding, it is a dream come true!
Meet Scott ; our big brother and his wife Liz.
These two lovers met on Tinder and after 1.5 years together got engaged in beautiful Byron Bay. He had arranged a private picnic for them under the Byron Bay Lighthouse and we were getting secret snapchats from the picnic so we knew it was happening.
The thing about this wedding is it was originally planned to be held in Bali by the beach. Fast forward 8 months and we were planning it in Sydney instead and we were so grateful for the opportunity to be involved.
Being able to style someone’s biggest day yet is something we treasure but when it’s your family, there’s no doubt the pressure is on, to make it one of the best we have done.
They were a couple who had complete trust in us. To do what we felt was the best fit for them and their personalities. They left us to make most of the styling decisions and this is when it really works well in our opinion.
The brief was a ‘Romantic Hamptons botanical wedding’. Tones of creams, apricots and blush florals were magical as table centrepieces and the beautiful scented silver Brunia foliage contrasted nicely and gave it more depth. It was elegant and understated but popped where it needed too.
Hints of rose gold and gold tea light candle holders scattered as well as Monsterio & huge gold fan leaves and faceted terrariums throughout the reception & ceremony. This tied in nicely with the bride who looked stunning in a fitted strapless gown which was customised & embellished by Trisha Maree & and a copper metal embellished belt designed by Trisha Maree for her especially.
It was a relaxed atmosphere at Zest Waterfront at The Spit in January 2018 but there was not a dry eye in the room when the bride, Elizabeth signed their wedding song by Christina Perri ‘1000 years’; as a surprise to her now-husband Scott moments before they exchanged their vows. This video went viral with millions of views and even got them an interview on ‘ The Today Show’ where Elizabeth explains “I wanted to do something really special and unique for Scott. I did not know how to sign before I met Scott, but I did some research once I started dating him into what it’s like to be deaf and how to communicate with him”.
Honestly how beautiful. We were so happy to be a part of this day and special moment.
What they said……
“ Darling Events created a spectacular room and went above and beyond to get every detail
perfect. I didn’t need to think or worry about a thing on the day of the Wedding except to
just enjoy the experience. “
